In September 2008, The New England State Offices of Rural Health and New England Rural Health RoundTable completed a joint project entitled "New England Regional Healthcare Workforce Collaboration."
Project Vision: Rural New England has an adequate supply and distribution of healthcare workforce.
Project Mission: Identify strategies which improve the healthcare workforce development, recruitment and retention capacity of New England stakeholders through regional projects, partnerships and collaborations.
Regional Plan: A strategic regional plan was developed to provide a framework for the ongoing efforts of the State Offices and the RoundTable.

Beyond the development of this plan, the State Offices of Rural Health in collaboration with the New England Rural Health RoundTable are raising awareness, convening partners and creating opportunities to improve programs supporting healthcare workforce development, recruitment and retention.
3RNet Members, Colleagues Meet to Promote Rural Recruitment
In a meeting sponsored by the MA State Office of Rural Health, in collaboration with the RoundTable and 3RNet (The National Rural Recruitment and Retention Network), participants explored recruiting opportunities in depth and shared much information.

Attendees included the State Office of Rural Health directors from CT, MA, ME, NH, and VT (RI was unable to attend), along with representatives from the Maine Primary Care Association, Bi-State Primary Care Association, MA Primary Care Office/Mass AHEC Network, the US Public Health Service Bureau of Clinician Recruitment and Service, and the Executive Director of the RoundTable.
