NERHRT to Launch 'Constituent Group' Initiative
The NERHRT believes that the strength of a regional association like ours comes from the ability to bring together the common interests of our membership as a unified force. This is particularly important for issues relating to rural communities and organizations, as the stakeholders are separated by great distances, have limited opportunities for networking, and often represent relatively small population groups that are easily overlooked in larger planning and advocacy forums.
In an effort to better respond to the interests of our membership, and leverage our strength across the six-state New England region, the NERHRT is rethinking how we organize and interact with our members. Our goal is to develop 'Constituent Groups' within the membership, representing individuals and organizations that have common roles and interests in rural health care, regardless of what state they are from.
The first step in this direction will take place at our Fall Symposium. While we have traditionally held breakout meetings by state, this year we will also be convening breakout meetings of the Constituent Groups over lunch the second day. The goal of these meetings will be to promote networking and discussion that will help the Roundtable better meet the needs of our members through targeted content in conference topics, ongoing information updates, networking opportunities, policy development, and advocacy.
As part of the conference registration, we will be asking attendees to self-select the group that best meets their interests from the initial groupings we have created. Based on your feedback, it is our intent that the makeup and organization of the groups will evolve over time.
For more information, view the initial list (PDF/15KB) and select the group that you feel you would like to participate in.
