Award Nominations Are Now Closed for 2012
The New England Rural Health RoundTable is pleased to announce its annual Rural Health Awards Program, which honors outstanding achievement in rural health care service. The awards will be presented at the Annual Symposium in Portland, Maine on October 26th, 2012.
Nominations are solicited in the following categories:
The Volunteer Award
This award recognizes excellence in the volunteer provision of health services to rural communities and/or encouraging the advancement of such activities in rural areas. It is awarded to a program or individual that has excelled in providing volunteer community services to their rural service area. The recipient should demonstrate imaginative and extraordinary voluntary support or service. The primary dimension to be judged is the quality of service and commitment to the rural community.
The President's Award
This award is presented to a group or individual whose efforts in the area of rural health have had a significant impact on the growing alliance of organizations and individuals who work to make the New England Rural Health RoundTable a strong consortium. The Committee will consider broad benefits to health, innovative programs, unusual contributions or activities that provide outstanding benefit to the public's health and are consistent with the mission of the RoundTable.
Rural Health Clinician Award
This award is made to a direct service provider honored for leadership in bringing health services to citizens in rural New England. The nominee must be a physician, dentist, dental hygienist, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, nurse midwife, nurse or social worker. The nomination must demonstrate that the nominee provides outstanding care, is involved in the community and has made a lasting contribution to the rural health care system in New England.
The Leadership Award
This award acknowledges contributions to policy critical to health care in rural New England. It is awarded to an individual who has exhibited a commitment to and policy support for, assuring health care services to people living in rural New England. S/He must demonstrate a high level of awareness of the issues affecting health care services in rural areas and must show evidence of influencing policy in the provision of service in their state or district.
The deadline for submitting nomination form is August 15th, 2012.
