The New England Rural Health RoundTable (The RoundTable) was established in 1997 with funding from the National Rural Health Association (NRHA). The RoundTable serves as the rural health association for the six New England states. We are a non-profit, membership-driven organization that serves as a regional rural health advocate. Our mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of communities throughout rural New England. Our vision is that the RoundTable serves as the forum for promoting healthy rural communities and solutions to the unique health challenges facing rural New England.
Our Objectives are to:
- Serve as a unified voice for the promotion of rural health needs and issues in New England.
- Identify rural health needs and issues in New England.
- Share timely information about key state and federal rural health policies and programs.
- Educate and advocate for rural health.
- Encourage networking and collaboration in support of rural health.
Established in 1997, our organization includes hundreds of members including: organizations, health and human service providers, interested individuals, and government agencies and bureaus from across the New England states.
The strength of our organization derives from its ability to bring a cohesive voice to the often scattered and disconnected stakeholders in rural health located in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
Throughout New England, we share common challenges such as: healthcare workforce, access to dental and mental health services, diminishing revenue streams, and increasing demands for services. As a resource, we identify and research rural health issues, analyze health policy, strengthen local capabilities, develop community-based alternatives, and advocate for rural concerns.
Our hope is that the collective knowledge and experience of our membership will drive this process. By sharing our successes and setbacks with each other, we can share our experiences with our fellow New Englanders.
Together, our board members and executive director work hard on behalf of our members to advance the work of the RoundTable and improve the health of rural New Englanders.
